Daunker Pachadi / Raita of Urad Dal

 

The name ‘Daunker ‘ sounds very different and we would think its an exotic dish. However, this Pachadi is  made from Urad dal and is a side dish for rice .

Its very simple and can be made with very few ingredients .

  1. Urad Dal 2 teaspoons
  2. Sour butter milk or curd 1/2 cup
  3. Salt 1 teaspoon
  4. Green chilies 2
  5. Asafoetida  1/4  teaspoon
  6. Curry leaves few
  7. Coriander leaves  few (chopped fine )
  8. Mustard half a teaspoon
  9. Oil 1 teaspoon

Method

Method

  • Dry roast the urad dal in a small pan, till light brown. Powder finely.
  • Add to the curd or butter milk along with salt and asafoetida .
  • Heat oil in the pan , add mustard , when it bursts , add green chilies and curry leaves.
  • Season the butter milk. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with Plain rice .
