Tomato Peanut Chutney

 

Tomato chutney is a popular side dish , which pairs well with  Idlis , dosais and other breakfast items . This chutney , has peanuts in it, to give a nutty flavour to the chutney . The tangy tomato mixed with , nutty peanut , gives a delicious chutney .  There are other common chutneys ,  which are , coconut , coriander , mint , onion , tamarind ,garlic and more .  However, do try this chutney which is made from easily available ingredients , and is simple to make and great to taste . This chutney is popular in Andhra Pradesh .

 

Ingredients

  1. Tomatoes   2 ( big ) Chopped roughly
  2. Peanuts 1 cup ( roasted )
  3. Salt  1   teaspoon
  4. Red Chilies    6
  5. Curry leaves  few
  6. Oil  1 teaspoon
  7. Mustard
  8. Garlic ( optional )   3 pods (peeled )

 

 

Method

  • In a pan , add half a  teaspoon of oil , and heat it . Add chopped tomatoes and shallow fry .
  • Add  four red chilies  too and shallow fry , till the tomatoes are mushy.
  • Grind the tomatoes , red chilies and peanuts , adding salt , to a smooth paste .
  • Season with mustard , red chilies and curry leaves .
  • Chutney is ready .
  • Add garlic, while shallow frying , if you are using them.
  • Salt and red chilies proportion,  can be increased or decreased , according to your requirements.
