Thool Pakoda, is a deep fried snack available, throughout the year, in all tea shops , in India. Its especially famous , in South India . Its enjoyed with tea and is extremely easy to make . Its very popular as a snack amongst Indians .
Ingredients
- Kadalamaavu / Besan / Bengal gram flour 2 cups
- Rice flour 1/4 cup
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- Ginger 3 teaspoons ( grated)
- Green chilies 1/4 cup ( chopped fine)
- Cashewnuts 20 ( broken)
- Curry leaves few
- Coriander leaves ( 1/4 cup) Chopped fine
- Onions 3 ( chopped fine )
- Ghee 2 tablespoons
- Asafoetida ( Hing) Perungaayam 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking soda 1/4 teaspoon ( optional )
- Oil for deep frying 1/2 liter
Method
- In a bowl , add the Besan and all the ingredients and mix well. Sprinkle just enough water, to make the mixture thick ,firm and powdery .
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan . When it becomes hot , reduce the heat to medium.
- Pinch a little bits of the Pakoda dough and drop into the hot oil. Deep fry till golden brown.
- Drain and serve hot .
