Sweet Tomato Pachadi

 

Tomato sweet Pachadi is served during festivals , auspicious occasions and marriages . However they can be made as Neivedyam too , and as a dessert for children . They taste very well , in a sadya menu too .

Ingredients for Sweet tomato Pachadi

Ingredients

  1. Tomatoes   6  ( medium size)
  2. Sugar 1/2 cup to 3/4 ths of a  cup
  3. Ghee 2 teaspoons
  4. Cardamom  half a teaspoon
  5. Pachaikarpooram a pinch
  6. Fried cashewnuts few

Method

Method to make the sweet pachadi

  • Boil 4 cups of water in a broad vessel . Drop the tomatoes in them . When the skin of the tomatoes start splitting ,drain and peel the toamtoes .
  • Blend  the tomatoes and filter to remove seeds or mash them well and filter .
  • Cook them in a wok or a kadai , adding sugar . Mix well . Add ghee too .
  • When the sugar dissolves and the tomato syrup  begins to thicken and becomes pulpy , remove from heat .
  • Garnish with nuts shallow fried, in a teaspoon of ghee and sprinkle cardamom powder and pachaikarpooram .
  • A tasty side dish for a feast is ready .
  • Absolutely lip smacking .

Note

  • If you cook the tomato mixture, for a longer time , it will solidify further and become a tasty jam.
  • A handful of grated beetroot , can be added to the above pachadi , to get a lovely colour .
  • Cook the grated beetroot in the tomato juice  and then add the sugar.
