Rose Sharbat / Rose Sherbeth

 

The South Indian variety of Paneer roses or country roses of red variety or pink variety can be used , for making this Rose Sharbat.

Rose petals have been used from time immemorial , as a beauty agent , coolant and to heal skin infections or conditions . The Rose syrup or sharbat  is added to milk and offered as a refreshing drink. Rose petals are used to make gulkand too . The roses are not only lovely to look at,  their smell uplifts our spirits . They are natural mood enhancers and relieves tension headaches .

As summers are very unforgiving in India , rose milk is prepared to compensate loss of energy and  to prevent dehydration.  Its energy boosting and is pleasing to the eye .Children love this drink This Sherbet has no preservative and is healthy and safe  and has  loads of benefits .

  1. Rose Petals of fifty roses
  2. Sugar 4 to 6 cups ( heaped )
  3. Water  One and half litres

Method

Method

  • Wash  all the rose petals , drain and  dry in shade .  In a wide deep bowl  , add water and boil . Add the petals and cook in low heat .
  • Let the water reduce to one litre .  Filter the water and keep aside .
  • Add sugar to the filtered water and cook in low heat , till it gets a one string consistency .
  • Cool and bottle . Use when required .
  • Preservative free drink is ready .
  • Add  one cup chilled milk to  4  tablespoons of rose sherbet and mix well. Tasty rose milk is ready
