This is a delicious, tasty breakfast or evening snack, has goodness of black pepper . As its made , from Beaten/ Flattened Flakes , its easy to make and gets ready in no time .
White Aval or Red Aval can be used to make this healthy breakfast .
Ingredients
- Red Beaten flakes 1 cup ( soaked for 10 minutes )
- Peanuts a handful
- Oil 2 table spoons
- Mustard half a teaspoon
- Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seed Powder half a teaspoon
- Curry leaves 6 to 8
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- Coriander leaves a tablespoon ( chopped )
Method
- Soak the Beaten flakes and drain well . See that it becomes soft but not mushy.
- Heat oil in a kadai , Add mustard , when it splutters , add peanuts and curry leaves .
- Saute for a minute or so . Add the soaked and drained Aval and stir. Add salt . Mix well.
- Add the black pepper powder and cumin seed powder .Mix well .
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot .
- Serve with chutney of your choice .
Note
- Make sure that you purchase , thicker varieties of Poha or Aval for this Upma.
- If using thinner version of the Aval , soak it for lesser time or simply sprinkle water til it becomes soft .
