Tomato chutney is a popular side dish , which pairs well with Idlis , dosais and other breakfast items . This chutney , has peanuts in it, to give a nutty flavour to the chutney . The tangy tomato mixed with , nutty peanut , gives a delicious chutney . There are other common chutneys , which are , coconut , coriander , mint , onion , tamarind ,garlic and more . However, do try this chutney which is made from easily available ingredients , and is simple to make and great to taste . This chutney is popular in Andhra Pradesh .
Ingredients
- Tomatoes 2 ( big ) Chopped roughly
- Peanuts 1 cup ( roasted )
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Red Chilies 6
- Curry leaves few
- Oil 1 teaspoon
- Mustard
- Garlic ( optional ) 3 pods (peeled )
Method
- In a pan , add half a teaspoon of oil , and heat it . Add chopped tomatoes and shallow fry .
- Add four red chilies too and shallow fry , till the tomatoes are mushy.
- Grind the tomatoes , red chilies and peanuts , adding salt , to a smooth paste .
- Season with mustard , red chilies and curry leaves .
- Chutney is ready .
- Add garlic, while shallow frying , if you are using them.
- Salt and red chilies proportion, can be increased or decreased , according to your requirements.
