TOMATO SOUP/Tamatar Ke Soup/THAKKALI Soup

Tangy , tasty Tomato soup gets done easily . Tomato soup is an universal favourite and is liked by all ages. Its the most fast moving soup in the restaurants menu.
This soup can be prepared at home and relished too . There are different versions of the soup . This is a very simple version of the soup
This soup can replace your dinner too , alongwith a salad and bread to go with it.

  1. Tomatoes 1 kg (cut into two )
  2. Carrot 2 chopped roughly
  3. Potato (optional )1 peeled and chopped
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  6. Onion 2 chopped
  7. Garlic 6 pods (optional)
  8. Sugar 1 teaspoon
  9. Butter /olive oil 2 tablespoons
  10. Cloves 2
  11. Cinnamon one inch
  12. Fresh cream 2 tablespoons
  13. Coriander leaves /Basil leaves

  • In a pressure pan , add butter , as it melts add cloves and cinnamon , garlic pods and onions.
  • Saute for a minute .
  • Add tomato , carrots and potatoes .
  • Pressure cook adding 2 cups of water for 2 whistles .
  • When well cooked , blend the whole mixture to a smooth paste .
  • Cook again in a low flame , add salt, sprinkle pepper .
  • After a boil or two , remove and serve with a dash of butter on top and a whirl of cream and sprinkle some coriander leaves on top .
  • Serve with bread croutons or relish as it is
  • Add sugar , if the tomato variety is very tangy . Otherwise you can skip it .
  • Use a combination of hybrid tomatoes and country tomatoes to get a lovely taste.
