Pumpkin Moar Koottu

 

 

 

 

Moar Koottu is  the tastiest side dishes,  to be eaten with  rice in South Indian cuisine . The dish  makes , plain rice interesting and tasty . The ingredients required are very easily available , in most South Indian kitchens.

The vegetables , used are Plantains , Plantain stems , Bangalore Brinjal / Chow chow ,Ashgourd etc.

Ingredients

 

  1. Tender Pumpkin 2 cups ( chopped medium size )
  2. Grated coconut  1 cups ( grated )
  3. Green chilies 4 chopped
  4. Cumin seeds  1 teaspoon
  5. Curry leaves few
  6. Turmeric powder  1/4 teaspoon
  7. Coconut oil  1 teaspoon
  8. Mustard 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Urad dal 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Salt 1 teaspoon
  11. Curd 1 cup

Method

Method

  • Cook the vegetable , adding turmeric powder  .
  • Grind the coconut , green chilies and cumin seeds  to a smooth paste .
  • Whisk the curd and add the ground paste , salt and curry leaves . Mix well.
  • Add the cooked Pumpkin and stir and cook in low heat for a two to three minutes .
  • Season with Mustard and Urad dal , in coconut oil .
  • Wonderful Moar Koottu is ready, to be relished .
  • You can make it thick as a side dish or a little watery , to be mixed  with rice as a kuzhambu.
