Moar Koottu is the tastiest side dishes, to be eaten with rice in South Indian cuisine . The dish makes , plain rice interesting and tasty . The ingredients required are very easily available , in most South Indian kitchens.
The vegetables , used are Plantains , Plantain stems , Bangalore Brinjal / Chow chow ,Ashgourd etc.
Ingredients
- Tender Pumpkin 2 cups ( chopped medium size )
- Grated coconut 1 cups ( grated )
- Green chilies 4 chopped
- Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves few
- Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
- Coconut oil 1 teaspoon
- Mustard 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dal 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Curd 1 cup

Method
- Cook the vegetable , adding turmeric powder .
- Grind the coconut , green chilies and cumin seeds to a smooth paste .
- Whisk the curd and add the ground paste , salt and curry leaves . Mix well.
- Add the cooked Pumpkin and stir and cook in low heat for a two to three minutes .
- Season with Mustard and Urad dal , in coconut oil .
- Wonderful Moar Koottu is ready, to be relished .
- You can make it thick as a side dish or a little watery , to be mixed with rice as a kuzhambu.
