Thuvaiyals, are thick chutneys which are served with rice . They are many types of Thuvaiyal , like onion , coconut , paruppu /dal , mint , coriander and more . Thuvaiyals are easy to make and make good side dish , especially with Poritha Kuzhambu . Its also known as Thogaiyal and can be relished with idli and dosai too.
Ingredients
- Tamarind marble size
- Dried Red chilies 7 to 8
- Rock salt 1 teaspoon
- Hing / Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon
- Curry leaves few ( optional)
- Oil 2 teaspoons
- Mustard 1/2 teaspoon
Method
- Grind tamarind, red chilies , salt, curry leaves and hing to a coarse paste . Heat oil and add mustard .
- When it crackles, add to the thuvaiyal.
- Mix and serve with rice .
- Amazing recipe is ready to relish.
- Instead of red chilies , green chilies can be used too .
- Adjust the amount of salt and red chilies needed , according to your taste and preference .
- You can add some grated coconut and roast some urad dal too and grind along with the tamarind .
