Puli Thuvaiyal / Tamarind Thuvaiyal/ Puli Thogaiyal

 

Thuvaiyals, are thick chutneys which are served with rice . They are many types of Thuvaiyal , like onion , coconut , paruppu /dal , mint , coriander and more . Thuvaiyals  are easy to make and make good side dish , especially with Poritha Kuzhambu . Its also known as Thogaiyal and can be relished with idli and dosai too.

Ingredients

  1. Tamarind marble size
  2. Dried Red chilies  7 to 8
  3. Rock salt 1 teaspoon
  4. Hing / Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon
  5. Curry leaves few ( optional)
  6. Oil  2  teaspoons
  7. Mustard 1/2 teaspoon

Method

  • Grind tamarind,  red chilies , salt,  curry leaves and hing to a coarse paste . Heat oil and add mustard .
  • When it crackles, add to the thuvaiyal.
  • Mix and serve with rice .
  • Amazing recipe is ready to relish.
  • Instead of red chilies , green chilies can be used too .
  • Adjust the amount of salt and red chilies needed , according to your taste and preference .
  • You can add some grated coconut and roast some urad dal too and grind along with the tamarind .
