Pirandai is a hardy creeper found easily in our backyards . It grows profusely in semi shade and is often known as an adamant creeper .
It’s got a host of benefits .
It’s extremely good for treating stomach ulcers , indigestion , bad breath , sores in the mouth , heel pain .
It increases bone strength , helps in reducing weight , boosts memory ,
It’s given to women after delivery , to heal the uterus and stomach .
This creeper is easy to grow and hardly requires much maintenance .
However while selecting leaves make sure , you select only tender ones .The older ones will give an itchy throat while ingested
Choose young tender stems only , scrape them well.
(While handling them , apply sesame or coconut oil on your hands , otherwise you hands may itch ).
Cut them into small pieces and use .
Please note , if you have a sensitive skin or are highly prone to allergies , please avoid chopping them.
Ingredients
- VELDT GRAPE chopped 1/2 cup
- Tamarind as big as a big lemon (30 to 40 gm’)
- Gingelly seeds 3/4 teaspoon
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Jaggery 1 teaspoon
- Dried Red chillies 4
- Oil 2 tablespoons
- Mustard 1 teaspoon
- Urad dal 1/2 teaspoon
Method
- In a kadai , heat oil .Add mustard , when it crackles, add urad dal and chopped Veldt grape.
- Add red chillies , tamarind , gingelly seeds and stir.
- After a minute or two , grind them to a coarse thick paste adding salt .
- A tasty thogaiyal is ready .
- Eat with hot rice and ghee .
- This thogaiyal can be made twice a week to get benefits of Veldt grape.
