Bengal gram or Chana dal Kosumalli , makes for a wonderful side dish . It’s generally a part of a festive menu , though it can be made as a part of daily lunch menu or eaten as a evening snack . Children will like this as an evening snack and its beneficial too for the growing children . They provide energy and are a source of vegetarian protein. They are rich in fibre and anti oxidants .
This dish, is very easy to make too and can be served as prasadam too , to the diety .
Ingredients
- Chana Dal or Bengal gram 1 cup
- Ghee 1 tablespoon
- Sugar half a cup
- Cardamom Powder a pinch
- Cashewnuts 4 to 6
Method
- Soak the chana dal for an hour and pressure cook, till soft but not mushy ,
- In a shallow pan, heat ghee , Add the cashews and shallow fry .
- When they turn light brown , remove them .Add the the chana dal and the sugar and saute till the sugar , dissolves well .
- The whole mixture will become sticky . Add cardamom powder and stir .
- Add fried and cashews and serve .
- Tasty Chana dal Sweet Kosumalli is ready .
