This is a rich tasty and delicious Payasam. It would make a great welcome drink for guests ,during festivals . Its kids favourite too and is nutritious too. Almomda are loaded with antioxidants and rich in Vit E . They help in reducing magnesium deficiency and hence bring down blood pressure . They make an ideal snack when eaten moderately .
Ingredients
- Almonds 100 grams
- Sugar half to one cup
- Milk 1 litre ( boiled and cooled)
- Cardamom 7 to 8 pods
- Cashewnuts 1 teaspoon
- Chara paruppu 1 tablespoon
- Pista 1 tablespoon
- Saffron few strands
- Edible camphor a pinch
- Ghee 4 teaspoons
Method
- Soak the Almonds in hot water for an hour . After an hour , drain and peel the almonds . Grind them to a smooth paste , adding half a cup of water.
- Mix a tablespoon of milk to saffron and keep aside .
- In a small sauce pan , heat ghee . Add cashewnuts ,pista and chara paruppu to light brown .
- Keep aside .
- Cook the almonds paste in low heat , adding 1 cup of water for three to four minutes .
- Add the boiled milk and sugar and mix well . Stir .
- Cook for two minutes and add fried ingredients , cardamom powder , saffron and edible camphor.
- Mix well and cool . Refrigerate and serve to enjoy its delicious taste .
Note
- The sugar quantity can be increased or reduced , according to one’s taste.
- This Payasam tastes well, if served chilled.
